Participation in the 12th children’s and youth dance festival in Neustadt
Publication in the “Dresdner Universitätsjournal” in October 2009
On the first weekend in October, the folklore dance ensemble “Thea Maass” and the TUD’s children’s and youth dance studio took part in the 12th Saxon Children’s and Youth Dance Festival in Neustadt. The folklore dance ensemble presented itself successfully in the opening program on Friday evening with the choreography “Gaben zur Hochzeit”, which was recently created with the support of the TU Dresden, the Gesellschaft von Freunden und Förderern and the Studentenwerk Dresden. A special incentive for the dancers of the “Hütejungen” and the members of the children’s and youth dance studio was the visit of the chancellor of the TU, Mr. Wormser, for the final program of the dance festival.
In addition to the performances, the approximately 370 participants from all over Saxony had the opportunity to try out different styles of dance in eight workshops. Another highlight of the dance festival was a visit to the “Monte Mare” water park for all participants. The students of the folklore ensemble used the opportunity to inform young people from other cities in Saxony about the study opportunities at TU Dresden using information material.
