Year after year, we are able to further develop the cultural cultivation and artistic interpretation of German dance folklore by participating in international folklore festivals and dance competitions as well as numerous regional performances. our Guest tour to Portugal and Spain last year, for example, ensured a successful intercultural exchange and enriched our ensemble with a formative experience.
A special highlight this year will be our participation in the 30th anniversary of the International Folklore Festival in Katowice/Cieszyn from 26.08. to 03.09.17 – as a continuation of our successes in recent years.(http://msff.pl) to which we received an invitation from a large number of international applicants. The other participating groups will be bringing their traditional dances from Algeria, Ireland, Italy, Cape Verde, Poland, Serbia, Slovakia, Turkey and Zimbabwe.
Not least in times when Saxony’s “Capital of Culture” is less open to the world, it is an important sign for us to take part in cultural mediation work in Poland for an international audience and with the attention of Dresden. As a member of the International Council for the Organization of Folklore Festivals and Folk Art CIOFF, in official partnership with UNESCO, we want to communicate Germany’s cultural heritage year after year through artistic means in exchange with other cultures and promote impulses for internationally networked cultural cultivation.
We are supported by 25 dancers and musicians – students and alumni – from our multinational dance ensemble, who invest a great deal of their free time in this demanding voluntary work and for whom participating in a festival abroad is a very special and always unique experience. Furthermore, we were also able to thank the Student Council of the TU Dresden as a project sponsor, which will generously finance a portion of our travel costs.
Current impressions of the festival trip can be found at our Facebook page be pursued!
