“Dance folklore is immortal. Nourished by the traditions of primitive peoples, kept alive across artificially created national borders, enriched by exchange, it still shows today how the folk art of dance continues to evolve. entwickelt hat.”
(Dresdner Neueste Nachrichten, 22.11.15)
No, we didn’t celebrate the retirement on 21.11.2015 in the Kulturhaus Freital, but 65 years of folklore dance at the TU Dresden and our successful continued existence – with 20 choreographies, danced by young talents, our active ensemble members and TUTE alumni.
From the greeting by Prof. Dr. Kurt Rößner, Society of Friends and Sponsors of the TU Dresden: “(…) The fact that the traditions of German folk dance and traditional customs in folkloristic stage dance have been successfully maintained and further developed over the decades deserves great recognition and admiration. I think I can say that the secret of your success lies in the fact that being a member of the ensemble is more than just a hobby– They are the life and passion of every dancer and cannot be achieved without the support of family and friends alongside studies or work. It is impressive how you have integrated foreign students and young academics. There were several projects with them in which they were given the opportunity to get to know dances and customs from our culture in the dance ensemble. At the same time, the members of the dance ensemble were able to learn new things about the traditions of the young academics’ home countries – a give and take here too (…)”.
