On April 27, 2024, the traditional raising of the maypole by Dresden’s carpenters will finally take place again on Dresden’s Altmarkt after a 4-year break. Afterwards, the maypole is festively danced around in a ribbon dance and the 20 m long ribbons are danced and braided. The whole event is framed by a hearty carpenter’s clap, a performance by the folklore dance ensemble “Thea Maass” from the TU Dresden and sociable dances for spectators.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The event is organized by the city of Dresden, the Dresden Guild of Carpenters and the folklore dance ensemble “Thea Maass” of the TU Dresden.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

We are looking for 30 dance enthusiasts for the ribbon dance, no dance experience is required. However, participation in ALL 8 rehearsal dates is essential.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
