Josephine Wätzold is a passionate dance educator. Her professional training began at the age of 10 at the renowned Palucca University of Dance in Dresden, from which she graduated in 2012 with a diploma in dance education.

Even while she was still a student, she already had the opportunity to gain valuable international experience: In 2010, she participated in the American Dance Festival, and in 2011 she was invited to attend workshops in Ufa, Russia. At the same time, she performed as a dancer with the Folklore Dance Ensemble from 2009 to 2012. After graduating, she moved to Dublin, Ireland, where she not only taught but also gained insight into the organization and financial management of a dance and theater school.

Since April 2013, Josephine Wätzold has been working as a freelance dance instructor in and around Dresden. For many years, she has been contributing her organizational skills to the Children’s and Youth Dance Studio at TU Dresden—first as deputy director and, since 2021, as chairperson. To help strengthen the regional dance scene behind the scenes in the long term, she is also active on the board of the Sächsischer Landesverband Tanz e.V. (SLvT).

Starting in October 2026, she will take over as artistic director of the “Thea Maass” folk dance ensemble at TU Dresden.

Her diverse teaching portfolio includes modern jazz, contemporary dance, creative dance for children, and folklore dance.
