On May 11, 2025, we were thrilled to welcome the Character Dance Ensemble (CDE) from the University of Utah, USA, for a vibrant cultural exchange in Dresden.

These talented American dancers came to Germany with the goal of learning traditional German folk dances to incorporate into their diverse repertoire. Quick learners and full of energy, they picked up new choreography at an impressive pace.
In turn, the ensemble captivated members of the Folkloretanzensemble “Thea Maass” der TU Dresden with a rich program of international dances—from Czech to Costa Rican, Georgian to German Sorbian traditions. Each performance was a celebration of cultural diversity and artistic excellence.

After showcasing their dances, it was our turn to share a bit of our heritage. We introduced them to one of our cherished folk dances: the Tampette. Following that, we performed several pieces from our own repertoire, giving our guests a deeper insight into German folk traditions.
