On Saturday, 26 April 2025, Dresden’s Altmarkt once again shone in bright colors and a cheerful atmosphere: 30 dancers in colorful costumes joined Dresden’s carpenters to artistically entwine the traditional two-tone ribbons around the maypole.
This festive ribbon dance marked the ceremonial opening of the Dresden Spring Market 2025. Numerous Dresdeners and visitors to the city came together to join in the celebrations. As a symbol of peace, five representatives of the carpenters released white doves into the spring sky.
After the maypole dance, the stage belonged to the folklore dance ensemble. The talented dancers enchanted the audience with a selection of spring-like pieces, including “Orakelfragen” and “Am Pfingstbrunnen”, perfectly capturing the lightness and freshness of the season.
